Blake, originally from Nanaimo, retired here after a career operating a successful adverting agency before pivoting to mentoring tech startups, many of which you probably use on a daily basis. With his established skillsets in marketing and communications he fostered start-ups and corporate clients to the level of success that many become leaders of their industry or sectors. While doing so, he continued enjoying his life long love of renovating and developing properties, having designed, built and renovated over 15 homes during his professional career. 

 

Always looking at business opportunities, when The Wine Cellar closed, and after talking to many past clients, it was clear there was a need for this service to startup again. Blake, along with his partner Matt, jumped at the chance to bring craft winemaking back to Salt Spring Island. So much for retirement! 

 

Matt, originally from Duncan, was transferred to Salt Spring to become the Meat and Seafood Manager of a BC grocery store, the youngest to manage two departments in the chain. After completing what he had set out to do, making his departments efficient, profitable and professional, it was time for a change. Looking to pivot his career, Matt was asked to join another locally based business, Fresco Refrigeration, a thriving and growing company with an impeccable reputation for client satisfaction, superior service and value. Now working towards his level 3 certification, Matt continues his HVAC career while also recognizing the clear need for our craft winemaking service.
